Another Case ... Security Alert!!!

Dear all lagooners,

Please be alerted. This happened to my car during the very first day of CNY. I believe it was happened in the midnight where all of us was asleep and no many people in the lagoon area as most of them went back to hometown to celebrate CNY.

The car's windscreen was being smashed more than 3 times. I am doubt what was the intention of that person doing this as there were few more cars parking out my house in the same row that time but only this car being smashed. Furthermore the person would have break the side mirror instead if he's in the purpose of stealing.

Regardless of what intention it is, this is not the first case happened...

UNIFI @ Lagoon Homes

Has any Lagoon Homes resident managed to subscribe the UNIFI successfully?

I have walked in to the TM Point at Menara TM (HQ), but still could not subsribe the UNIFI since the Lagoon Homes roads (Jalan Anggerik Malaxis) is not shown in their system.

Can any Lagoon Homes resident who has UNIFI share about their steps? There is free installation fee for UNIFI (5, 10, 20) from 15 Jan 2011 till 15 Feb 2011 so I would like to catch up this opportunity.

HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR REGISTRATION FORM?

Short reminder to everyone - please submit your registration form. The response so far is very good, it is getting closer to 100 members. But it is not enough. We need more and we need your support.
The sooner we can finalize this, the earlier we can form our own security.
Please drop your form at Albert's house @51/175. Please help to remind your neighbours to do it.

CHECK YOUR POSTBOX - ITS FROM US

Further to earlier post, we have printed out the flyers & registration form, put it in plastic cover and delivered it directly to your house. Do not mistook it as another hypermarket or slimming promotion brochures as it is actually from us! As of 12 November 2010 2 am, all houses in 173, 174 & 175 should have received it. 172 is scheduled to receive it by tomorrow night.
The flyer is a notice to everyone for the meeting date and venue and behind it is the persatuan penduduk registration form that we need you to review and fill in if it is of your interest to join.
Some may wonder why do we need to fill in another form as we have done so before. The previous form was more towards a survey form while the current form is our own persatuan registration form. With a majority, we will be able to improvise our area to Guarded or even Gated (if the government or local authority permits). You can register as a member even if you are not interested to have guards in our area. Please check the option box on the form.
So please come to the meeting, please spread the word. To those who are interested, please fill in the form and bring during the meeting. To those who cant come, please pass your form (only if you agree) to your neighbour or road reps.
Hope to see you!

Lagoon Public Playground

These photos was taken last Saturday at the public playground next to Lagoon. As we are all aware of, the playground is open to public access although it is located in Lagoon. We cant say much on this issue as it is pre-decided thing before we moved in; however we need the authority/ies to understand that without proper supervision, the playground will not last long. As we can see we have users driving into the playground and park their cars there. In separate cases, we have the all football field spotlights breakers taken out or perhaps stolen. There are parts of the metal green fence broken for months, teenagers with bikes coming in to hangout/drink alcohols, rubbish thrown everywhere and nobody is taking action on it.
As Lagoon residents, we should be concerned on issues like this as this will effect the quality, safety and harmony of our neighbourhood.
MBSA should come and monitor, police should check this area regularly.

Security Company Presentation & Moving Forward

On 23rd Oct, our committee members conducted a presentation and Q&A session with a security company to understand and evaluate its capability to perform its duty at our beloved Lagoon. The 1st technical screening was completed and we are now going thru with all other important details before completing and confirmation of selection.
All Lagooners must bear in mind that we need to achieve certain numbers of residents participation in order to make our neighbourhood to a Guarded Community. We have identified a few ways so that the message are relayed to all residents and we sincerely hope that we can have everyone's support to achieve it. November will be a busy month where we are arranging for (1)Security Company Site Inspection (to see and evaluate the security company performance at their current customer base, (2) House to house visit to residents house for registration invitation (3) Flyers, SMS, Phone Calls, E Mails to all residents for registration invitation (4) General Assembly for All Residents to attend Security Briefing and Community Activities. This will be the best time and venue to brief all residents on the security company's scope and responsibility, method of payments, future planning as well as a kickstart to know our neighbours
On behalf of the Committee, I would like to thank PPKK for its support to facilitate our activities as well as plans to provide Banking facilities to accomodate the residents payments in the future. It seems that we have a good planning strategised and we plead to all residents to be actively involved in our implementation.

New Government ruling on Guarded/Gated Community - Effective immediately

Taken from The Star online, 02/09/2010

New guidelines for gated, guarded housing areas in effect immediately

PUTRAJAYA: New guidelines for gated communities and guarded neighbourhoods will be implemented with immediate effect, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Thursday.
These include a specific height for fences and a permanent guardhouse with security personnel manning the area around the clock for gated communities, while guarded neighbourhoods must ensure that boom gates and guard posts are temporary structures which can be removed if found unsuitable by the local authorities.
However, existing gated communities and guarded neighbourhoods have been exempted from having to follow the guidelines.
"Local authorities will approve the gated community concept by developers or guarded neighbourhoods proposed by residents' associations only if all points stated in the guidelines are met," Muhyiddin told reporters here after chairing the National Council for Local Government meeting.
He added that the guidelines, approved and endorsed by council, were aimed at streamline these facilities.
"The guidelines, however, do not touch on the issue of pricing as this is for the concerned parties to negotiate and decide," he said.
Muhyiddin said it was also important that approval be given by a higher percentage of residents before a guarded neighbourhood could be implemented.
He added that a by-law would later be formulated to allow local authorities to take action against those failing to abide by the guidelines.
In a gated community, all roads and facilities in the gated areas are privately-owned, whereas in guarded neighbourhoods, residents engage security services but the roads and facilities within the area are public infrastructure.
Gated communities and guarded neighbourhoods have sprung up in recent years, especially in urban areas, as a initiative by residents to protect themselves.
However, criticism has been levelled at the security firms employed as they often limit access to the areas.
