Cicak's Review On Desa Selatan Restaurant...

Hi Guys,

After hearing the usual Chat box but can't do anything to it due to my genius company's Web defence system that crippled Cicak's visit to his own blog during office hour, much have been left thinking on his brain and stomach about the latest topic - the Malay restaurant owned by one of our own Lagoon Home Club members.

After struggling for 2-3 days (thanks Alan for the temptations), i decided to "strike" with Wai Sik Mui on one fine Saturday evening at around 5:30p.m to give the restaurant a first hand try and review for the other club members.

The restaurant is exactly next to Treats Cafe, which is along the same street with the Famous Bidor's Pun Chun Noodle House (give that a try too if you haven't) . If you still don't know what i am talking about, it is on the road behind Gamuda Office. If you still don't know, spend few hundred ringgit and get yourself a GPS system ;P

Anyway the restaurant has been around for 2 years. (Yes, 2 years!!!) . After going through the menu (they have quite a lot of dishes), I settled for a plate of Nasi Bryani Gam, and Wai Sik Mui settled for a plate of Nasi Ayam Paprik. Also we shared a serving of Asam Ikan Pari. The restaurant is simple and neat. Service is rather fine but the dish came only after 15 minutes. So, during lunch hour, you may have to try and wait a wee bit longer i bet.

Anyway, the Nasi Bryani Gam was good. Being a Johorean, Nasi bryani gam was my hometown dish that i grew up with. So, i would say it is quite "original" and nice. The Nasi Paprik was so-so but the Asam Pari is a MUST Try...very nice and a bit on the hot side. Yummy. They have many other Johorean Malay dishes.

All in all, the food was nice and the price is decent. Do give it a try yourself. Do bear in mind this is more of a southern Malaysia Malay dishes. So expect a little bit of spiciness and sweetness. If you are more into "Nasi Kandar" style of Malay food, this may not be a place for you.

I would deifnitely come back again for Mee Rebus Johor, Lontong, etc. hehehe. Anipiah after this first hand review, any discount next time when i go there? I will put this in my food blog also.

Signed off,
Cicak
